Donegal Town were the visitors to Hatrick Park for a top-of-the-table clash in Provincial Regional North with Rainey III. The visitors were quick to open the scoring with an unconverted try, but Rainey’s response was impeccable as hooker Goddard forced his way over for an unconverted try following a great charge by lock Wylie and some intense pressure on the visitors’ line. They added another when out-half Feathers jinked his way through the defence from short range, but again the conversion was missed.

Donegal’s pack then set up a strong driving maul from a lineout before they released the backs to score under the posts, with the conversion giving them the lead. Lee came close to scoring for Rainey but was driven back on the line and the half ended with the Donegal men in front.

Rainey regained the lead with a fine try down the left wing from winger Bentley, and were unlucky with the conversion when it rebounded off the post, but from that point on, it was all Donegal, as they ran in four more converted tries to win 15-40.
