After ending last season with ten straight bonus point wins, Rainey III are carrying on where they left off.  They welcomed joint-captain Rory Flanigan back from his jaunt to Japan for their first home game of the campaign and, after taking some time to settle, came good eventually to beat City of Derry III by 29-14.

Play swung from end to end before Derry rumbled over at the posts to open their account.  A try from prop Gordon on the half hour left the sides level at the break.

Though a man short due to a yellow card, Rainey struck through scrum-half McNabb, half-back partner Pollock adding the points.  McGuckin and wing McAfee extended their lead, but Derry stayed in touch to reduce the deficit.  With No8 Molloy leading by example, Rainey were never threatened and, in the play of the game, the industrious McNabb had the final say with his second try.
